Benoit Huet has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2011, and co-founded the law firm Avrillon Huet in 2017.

He advises companies and executives on matters relating to corporate and business law, in particular in the context of business mergers and transfers (acquisition, mergers, takeovers, etc.), financing transactions. In this capacity, he has taught business law for nearly ten years at Essec Business School as part of the Grande Ecole program, in French in Paris and in English in Singapore.

He also works with organizations in the non-profit sector, and has a recognized practice in assisting foundations, endowment funds, and associations, in particular on issues of sectorization, subsidiarization, merger, for the constitution of groups involving the coexistence of legal entities of a distinct nature (companies and associations in particular), and for the transfer of company’s ownership to non-profit bodies (“shareholder foundation”).

Last, Benoit Huet has developed a sectoral expertise in the field of media and regularly publishes articles on issues related to media ownership, governance and regulation. He is a member of the Legal Committee of Reporters Without Borders, he is a member of the European Commission’s group of experts on SLAPPs, and he was a member of “Etats Généraux de l’Information” (French government’s initiative on media regulation). His book, “Information is a public good – Refounding media ownership” (co-written with the economist Julia Cagé) was published by Editions du Seuil in February 2021 (republished by Points in 2024).
